Memories of Buddy
Buddy came into my life in September, 1992. I had lost my beloved cat, Slick, in June 1991 and was still devastated by Slick's loss. I had all but decided to never get another pet because of the awful pain you experience when they pass away. I was visiting my dad this particular day and he met my car as I pulled into the driveway and said, "Look at what showed up at our doorstep today." It was Buddy. We believe someone had "dropped" him in this rural area believing someone would take the kitten in, but the poor baby was half starved, chewing on sticks and trying to cuddle with dad's cat, who he thought might be his mother. Dad had fed the tyke but said that his cat was trying to chase the kitten away. I played with "him" all afternoon and when I left, I was traumatized to be leaving him.

The next day, a Sunday, I made the hour's drive to dad's with Slick's cat carrier in the car. Within a few days at my house, I knew "his" secret name. He was BUDDY, because that is exactly what he was, my buddy, my pal, my best friend.

We spent 17 wonderful years being completely in love with each other and I thank God for each and every minute I shared with my beloved boy. My pain is deep at his loss, but my thanks to God is great that He allowed me to be a part of this miracle of creation that was, is and always will be.... My Buddy.
