Memories of Frosty
| I first saw you in November 2001. You were in a tiny wire cage in the backyard of the house behind us. I kept my eye on you for a year. Do you remember when Daddy and I would sneak hay into your cage? And we put a straw mat in there so your feet wouldn't hurt. In December 2002 after seeing that you hadn't been fed in a few days, I asked your owner if we could buy you and he said no. A couple days after that the weather got bad. It was cold and raining....you had no cover on your cage. I had also noticed your water was full of mold and wet dog food had been put in there for you to eat. I told Daddy to hop the fence and take you. It took 3 days for that man to even notice you were gone! You were so happy to have someone pay attention to you! Sometimes, I could swear you were smiling at me. Your violet blue eyes so warm and loving. Four and a half years later, I have to say good bye. You were so sick from having to live the way you did in the beginning, how did you hold on for so long? Your age was estimated to be around 9, although we don't know for sure. Cappy misses you so much. She looks so lost without you. I am going to move her house next to Rusty and Leah so that she wont feel so alone. I made sure she knows she will see you again one day. It was so hard to let you go but I knew you were suffering, even though you tried to hide it. I was really hoping you would have made the journey on your own so that I wouldn't have to make the choice to let you go but you were too tough for that. You were determined to keep fighting. When I brought you to see Beth and she told me the pneumonia was back, I knew I had to help you get across Rainbow Bridge. I know you are better off, but that doesn't change the pain of having to let you go! You always knew you were getting grapes when I called you "Fros Wos". I already miss you standing up in your house to greet me. The family room seems so empty without you....even though there are 3 other bunnies in it. You had the most life, the most energy of all of them....nobunn could ever take your place! I hate that you are gone, but I love the memories you left! We miss you and love you! We'll see you again one day.....until then, enjoy your pain free life in bunny heaven! |
