Memories of Lady
For Lady circa 1970-1978

Lady Dear (a short poem)
Always there for me to lend a ear,
Always a source of love and cheer,
Best friend forever remembered here,
Always remembered ever dear,
Never forgotten my Lady dear.

Lady my beloved blonde American Cocker Spaniel circa 1970 to 1978 my best friend who shared my life with me from when I was age 2 to age 10.

I'm not sure her exact birth date or death date. I was a child and too hurt to think of noting the date or time she died, but 1 thing I know I deeply missed her when she was gone. She never had a funeral or memorial before it took me44 years to find out this website existed.

I always wanted to memorialize her she deserves to be remembered. Now she has been and it reopened the wounds I was forced to push down inside when my family got another dog, Ranger. Now I'm finishing the grieving they was interrupted (well intended though they were, it means now years later I have to finish what was started and interrupted. Grieving Lady's loss).

I'd like to say to her dear beloved Lady never forgot your existence and now no one else who comes here who sees this will forget you either.

Whenever I was sad or lonely she always came to be with me and stayed by me for as long as I wanted and needed he to and she always let me pet and stroke and hug her. She may not have understood what I was saying but she knew I needed her and stayed and listened for as long as I wanted her to.

I'd like to tell her, Lady, remember when we'd lay on the grass in summer and how you'd sometimes lick my face? mom didn't like that because she was afraid it would make my allergies act up? I loved your sweet kisses and I miss them Lady. Lady I loved you more than you knew. Lady I love you my sweet furred sister.

Growing up with Lady she was my friend, confidant, comforter, and I guess you could say she was my fur sister or furred sister because she was a puppy when I was a toddler so she wasn't quite my fur baby to me the closest I can come is that she was like a fur sister to me because mom and dad did the hard stuff like housebreaking her. No matter. Fur sister or fur baby she was still family and so deeply deeply loved. My childhood best best best friend. Lady was mom's little fur baby then not so little fur baby once she was grown. Even so I would have given every single toy I had if it could have brought her back to me. I'm sure lady would have felt the same way and given up all her milk bones to be back with me. I hope she's had fun at the rainbow bridge and made lots of friends there. Maybe she met dad at the bridge when he passed on that way or maybe she's still waiting for me or mom. As long as she's happy is all I hope and want for her. She was special to me and I love her so. I hope to meet her at the rainbow bridge someday so I can give her a hug tell her I love her again and pet her all over while she gives me sweet Lady dog kisses. I love you Lady.

Lady been looking for photos of you and so far haven't found them. I know there's at least one though. If I find it I'll try and post it up if I find more then 1 same thing. I remember finding the picture years ago and it getting put away again. We were in the back yard both so small but the sun was shining it was warm and we were happing just relaxing in the late spring or early summer sun. Wish we could be doing that now although to do so we'd have to take a vacation as enters coming on in a couple weeks. I miss you Lady. I'll probably join the Monday remembrance once I feel I can do so without falling apart during it.

Lady I bet you met Ranger at the rainbow bridge when he passed and I bet you liked him and you've had fun playing with him. I bet you've also been playing with the neighbours Siamese cat like you used to do. You two would walk or race back and forth along the fence it was cute to watch. I miss seeing you play and have fun like that.

Been thinking about you Lady, how you were always there for me like that day when I came home from school the day a kid I didn't even know shoved snow down my back. You were there to listen and comfort me and with you there I knew, even if the teachers and recess monitors didn't care you did you were there. Whenever I've have bad days i find myself missing you so much Lady. I know it might seem silly to done people seeing as you've been gone 44 years now but you never forget your best best childhood friend especially the one you grew up with especially the one you knew from age 2 or was I 1 & 1/2. That doesn't matter much though because either way I knew you from the time of my earliest memories that you were always there for me then whether I had a bad day at school or stubbed my toe or anything you were always there offering me your presence your friendship your love and your body to hug and pet. We're about to have a rain and snow storm (2 types of weather you did not like at all, so even though I miss you still and love you forever, I'm glad you're not going to have to go out in weather you hated going out in. Love you forever Lady.

It's coming Valentines Lady. I don't remember if we ever said happy Valentines to you or did anything. I don't think so because no one talked about doing holiday stuff with or for pets so we probably didn't think of it if we didn't know people did that (we didn't know). I'm hoping you have a good Valentine's Day. It's still a few days away but I gave you a valentine here. It is filled with your favorite treat milk bones and it's in a made dog safe recycled candy heart box. Hope you can wait until Valentine's Day to dig into it. I've never forgot you and still remember and miss you all these years later. Love you Lady.

Hard to believe how time flies Lady it's been just short of a year since I memorialized you here. Doing so was the last thing I had to do to fully let go of the grief. Don't get me wrong, I still love you and miss you, you are in my heart forever, the love we shared the bond eternal. At least now anyone who comes by here will know you existed and were deeply loved. You won't be forget ever (never could). Now I have o place to come and remember you if and when I want to. A lovely memorial for my lovely loving fur sister. It makes a difference having a memorial for you. The unfinished business the anger and regret of coming home to find you gone & not getting to say goodbye was hard to let go of then and I did my best but there was always something missing Lady. A place to memorialize you to go to remember you. Now I've given you a special place to be remembered it makes all the difference I can smile remembering the good times knowing we will meet again at the rainbow bridge. People might not understand why so long after you passed on td are t it bothered to memorialize you here. That doesn't matter. You & I know why it matters. I love you Lady,I haven't forgotten you. I know it's almost a year since I visited you her, I know you understand, things to do flowers to sniff and all that but the very fact your here and I can come see & remember you here makes all the difference to me because(I don't know how to say it, to say the because, to explain it). It doesn't matter what the because is to anyone but you and me though Lady. All that matters is you being memorialized here helped me & some unfinished business is finished. I love you Lady, and I'll see you later here until we meet again at rainbow bridge. Speaking of rainbow bridge I hope you met and play with Ranger there he was a fun dog. Have fun lady, I'll see you at rainbow bridge someday. Love and hugs I love you Lady.

Please also visit Ranger.
