Memories of Lucky
1/31/2019 - Hi, Lucky. Although we haven't written in a while, know you are constantly in our hearts. You have two sisters now! There name are Abby and Zoe. I was resistant to having another buddy besides you, but somehow, I feel you would want me to care for them the way you were cared for. We tell them about you all the time, so they do know about you. I hope you are doing well, son, and that you are enjoying your stay at Rainbow Bridge. We love you and will write again soon. You take care, and we will see each other again!

10/27/2014 - Hi, Lucky. I am sorry for not writing before now. Please know that you are constantly on my mind. The day of your anniversary was just a little hard for me. I hope you are enjoying your stay at Rainbow Bridge. We miss you so much and wish we could just hold you one more time. You take care my son, and I will see you again someday. Love, Dad.

10/24/2013 - Hi, Lucky. We are entering the third day since you left for Rainbow Bridge. I wanted to leave this note to let you know how hard it was for me and mom to let you go. We could tell by the look in your eyes that you were in so much pain. It hurt so much to see you struggle to stand just to take a sip of water and to get a bite to eat. And when we saw you struggle to maintain your balance just to get around, we knew it was time to free you from your pain and suffering. We both pray you understand that our decision, although tough and heart breaking, was out of our unending love for you. We look forward to the day we can be together again. I know St Francis is there with you, so please try to pay attention and do what he tells you to do. Love, Dad.

A Parting Prayer

Dear Lord, please open your gates
and call St. Francis
to come escort this beloved companion
across the Rainbow Bridge.

Assign him to a place of honor,
for he has been a faithful servant
and has always done his best to please me.

Bless the hands that send him to you,
for they are doing so in love and compassion,
freeing him from pain and suffering.

Grant me the strength not to dwell on my loss.
Help me remember the details of his life
with the love he has shown me.
And grant me the courage to honor him
by sharing those memories with others.

Let him remember me as well
and let him know that I will always love him.
And when it's my time to pass over into your paradise,
please allow him to accompany those
who will bring me home.

Thank you, Lord,
for the gift of his companionship
and for the time we've had together.

And thank you, Lord,
for granting me the strength
to give him to you now.

Amen.

10/25/2013 - Hi Lucky. I wanted to say goodnight before going to bed. My heart aches so much for you. I want you to know how much you are missed and that you are constantly on my mind. I love you, my Lucky. Until we see each other again, enjoy yourself at Rainbow Bridge. Love, Dad.

10/26/2013 - I wanted to wish you a goodnight, my Lucky. I hope you had a fun day at Rainbow Bridge. I saw Kayla and Cheyanne today, and they mentioned you. I can tell they miss you too. Today was a tough day for mom and I as we miss you so very much. I hope you are safe, have plenty of friends, and food to eat. Make sure you let everyone know how much you like ham and sausage. I will always love you, my dear Lucky. Until we see each other again. Love, Dad.
