Ben

| My dog got hit by a car tonight and died almost instantly. I have had him since he was a puppy. He was about one year and eight months old. Too young to die. He was my husband and I's only kid. We really loved him. I feel like it's my fault because I let him out and he ran off. He would wander every now and then, but would stay out back or visit the neighbors, as our house sits back from the road. I call him to come inside because I can hear his collar jingiling. He ignores me, so I figure he's not ready to come inside. Eventually I go outside and call him, but he is no where to be found. I go inside the house to inform my husband of our dogs disappearance. He goes outside to look for Ben. I start getting ready because I was going out with girlfriends shortly. My husband was outside for a while. I thought I heard him talking to someone. Eventually he comes in the house and tells me that Ben got hit by a car and was dead. I almost didn't believe it. I follow my husband outside to find Ben laying lifelessly on our lawn. We just cry over him. He was still warm. My husband told me that Ben saw him and made his way across the road and then got hit, right in front of my husband. My husband watched him die. My home is so empty without Ben and I feel so empty right now. I don't know how I will ever get over this. |
