A Pet Parents Grief
by Linda Giordano
It's not very easy losing a pet.
Your friend, your companion, your best buddy yet.
With sadness in your heart and a tear in your eye.
You bid your furry friend a final good-bye.
You know their suffering is over, no pain for them to feel.
But for you the lingering heartbreak will take some time to heal.
The grief is overwhelming, it doesn't seem to go away.
Instead of getting easier, you feel it every day.
I know what pet parents are feeling. My sweet Abbey is now gone.
If she could tell me one thing, she would say, "Mommy be strong".
